Re:  Interested in Howard University

Coach Askew,

I am a rising senior at Kent Island High School, and I swim for Annapolis Swim Club. I have been looking at colleges I want to attend, and Howard's engineering program has caught my attention. I have interned at the Naval Research Lab in Washington DC, and I attended the National Student Leadership Conference (engineering) in June. I am also one class away from completing the Project Lead the Way pathway at my school, which is a rigorous program designed for students intending to pursue engineering majors.

I have swam for Annapolis Swim Club for six years and looking forward to swimming in college. I am interested in swimming for Howard, can I ask you some questions regarding your practices and team dynamics?

My strengths are in breast stroke, 100 BR 1:08.12 and 200 BR 2:26.93. I have gone to Sectionals twice, and my goal is to make it to Jr. Nationals next spring. We just had our Maryland State Champs LCM marking the end of the season. We have a couple of weeks off before starting our short course season. I think our first meet will be in October.

Here are some of my times (SCY):

50 FR  26.45
100 FR 56.33
200 FR 2:00.53
100 BR 1:08.12
200 BR  2:26.93
200 IM   2:16.89
400 IM   4:45.49

I currently have a 4.1 weighted GPA. I took the SAT in January and scored a 1770; 630 math, 590 reading, 550 writing.

Please keep in touch, and feel free to ask any questions.
